Built for good times

First established in early 2000’s this resort has been built with consultation from various Durban fishing and beach loving families and has grown over the years to provide a magical location for a stress free beach holiday. All houses have space to park one’s boat securely at your house so you are able to easily prepare for the next days fishing and leave your boat fully equipped.

The resort is neighboured by two other resorts, Oyster Bay and Sol de Ligogo, who also make use of the Legogo Bay and launch site. These two resorts are smaller compared to Legogo Beach Resort and hence do not bring in lots of people to detract from the remote beauty of the Legogo Beach resort and surrounds.

Water and electricity

All houses have electricity and most have generator back up in the unlikely event of extended downtime by EDM.

Water is supplied from the inland fresh water lakes and while this water is filtered it is not recommended for human consumption. Safe palatable water is available from within the Ligogo village and the houses have water canisters that can be refilled every few days.

Security

The resort has 24/7 security guards that patrol between the houses but Legogo Resort has a great relationship with the local community and enjoys a secure friendly environment.

Internal roads

All internal roads are sand jeep tracks and a 4×4 is required. The roads are maintained by management and tyres are pulled through the resort occasionally however guests must drop their tyre pressures to under 1 bar to ensure the integrity of the roads are maintained the vehicles do not dig in.

Inhambane facilities

In Inhambane you can find a Hospital, International Airport, garages, bottle store, Fish/Veg/Curio Market and Shops where one can buy almost everything you need for a beach holiday.

Swimming and beach

Vehicles are allowed onto the beach into a designated area within the bay. This access road is maintained by resort management and watered daily to ensure cars and boats have unrestricted access. Guests are encouraged to drive responsibility on the ramp to ensure the integrity is maintained.

Guests are allowed to construct a beach camp with one’s car parked next to it. Swimming at low tide inside the reef is suitable for all ages – even toddlers can splash around in the calm, clean shallows while parents keep a watchful eye on them. Lovely wide open beaches are great for long walks and allow one to park away from others if you prefer a little privacy. The local netters bring in their nets on most days, and so even if you are not a fisherman, there will be fish to buy, and fishermen can often get the perfect bait for the deep sea fishermen.

There are restaurant and bar facilities at both Oyster Bay and Sol de Ligogo resort that neighbour onto Legogo Beach resort. Both are within 5 minutes drive of the resort and are open to all guests staying at Legogo and both have pool facilities that are available to patrons having lunch or dinner.

The Ligogo village is ten minutes drive from the resort and continues to expand each year as the resort continues to gain in popularity. Guests are encourage to support local to assist the community.
